A family walk with friends for 2 hours, one hour spent with number 3 daughter on my shoulders!
Then off to run!
After a really enjoyable late afternoon run yesterday, I decided to go again today, but with a different route.
Set off from Clough Head car park at about 3.30pm.
The weather has become decidedly colder the last few days and there was occasional sleet at times whilst I was out, temperature 3 degrees. The start to the run is uphill and pretty steep in places, found this no problem, which was pleasing after a quickish run yesterday.
Very boggy in places, followed the normal run along the Rossendale way, out to the far farm before joining Haslingdon Old Road at the Farmer's Glory.
The bottom of the hill was extremely boggy here, at times knee deep!
Up the hill, passed 13 stone hill and a loop around the hills of the last farm.
Normal route back.
Out to the hill over looking the Grane Reservoirs.
At this point I was feeling very leggy!
Did a couple of hill sprints, that turned into fast jogs towards the top, turned around and headed home.
A bit of a detour around Tor Quarry.
Still leggy and light fading fast, tried to pick the pace up, which I managed, but blood sugar levels were very low.
Pushed a last faster mile, out through the wood that was pitch black - tired!
I have enjoyed running at this time of the day, light fading - very calm and still.
Watch says - 62 mins, Avg HR 137, Max HR 156, Cals 657
I know I was tired today with a max HR of only 156, and I climbed some steep hills, but obviously slower than normal, maybe need a rest day, we'll see tomorrow.
