Tuesday 31st August

Back to work tomorrow - time for another run me thinks!
Up to about 40 miles a week at the moment - feel good!
Nick is finally up for a run so we're off to the Tor at 4.
Nick cancelled at the last minute I went anyway. Normal route to Musberry Heights except I stayed at the bottom until you come to a little tunnel, here turn right and go straight up the hill - V TOUGH! At the top straight over to the Rossendale Way. At the style I went staight across and decided to explore Ogden Moor. After a few miles I came across an abandoned house. The views were exceptional. One of the best I have ever seen whilst running in the UK.
Watch stats - 68 mins, 49 mins in the 70 - 80% HR zone (When not in this was higher except during the warm up) Avg HR 147, Max HR 161, Cals 807.

Badminton 8-9pm tonight v fast, good tempo session!!
Maybe run over the moors after work tomorrow??

WB 23rd August

Lots of running this last week and weeks prior to this!
The target is the Full Tour of Pendle (FTOP) in November. 17 miles and 6 times up and around Pendle! Fun or what!!
Anyway found another run to add to the number from Clough Head Car Park.
Cross the road and over the gate opposite the car park, down the hill and follow the path along the reservoir. At the stile straight over, up the hill to the gate and turn left.
Follow this path up the fill to the chimney at the top of musberry heights.
Follow the path left and after you cross the remains of the railway lines turn left this follows the route of the Rossendale Way. Over the stile and stay left heading for a small clump of trees, when you get to the bottom of this valley you are at the bottom of Tor Hill. I've now been up there twice, but as yet haven't managed to find any form of 'route' to the top. A very tough hill to try and run up, due to the steepness. However once on top the views are amazing!
The route back is equally tough. First the descent is difficult and when you get to the bottom of the hill and head back towards Musberry Heights it is a tough up hill run for quite a while that drains the legs especcially after the run up Tor Hill. Back down the heights to the reservoirs and retrace the steps. The final climb away from the reservoirs to Graine rd again tough.
A great run with plenty of options to explore the valleys surrounding Tor Hill.
The last watch details said -
77 mins, 44 mins in the 80 - 90% range, Avg HR 143, Max HR 160, Cals 875
Having checked out the route on Google Earth the route is anything between 7 and 9 miles, call it 8 then.
First run was about 1 minute quicker than this, but felt a lot harder! Cals got up tonearly 1000 used. Trying to use HR zone training more at the moment!

I'm back!!

Recently went away with friends and family to Kent (fantastic place) too much food and drink! - Little running.
Home for 2 days and then Spain for 10 days. V HOT - 6 runs out to the middle of no where following a dried river bed. Started with 35 mins then 45 mins then 1hr, 1hr 15, 1 hr 20, 1hr 30 mins. Lots of lizards and big bugs, but no snakes!
Got home Thursday (19th Aug) pm late!
Run Friday
Run Sunday - Clough Head Car Park run opposite the reservoirs an hour and 5 mins felt good! Lots of hill work and ran them well.
Run Monday -CH Car Park Res side. Over the gate past the res, up to the stile, up the hill to the chimney, stayed left out for 28 mins, looking for a way to the hill on it's own. Came back checked out next way from the chimney, follows the Rossendale way. Seems to be a good way to the hill. Maybe try it out tomorrow. Rained all the way round absolutely soaked! Good old English weather.
PM - 100 sit ups, 500 BW squats 10 sets of 50.
Watched City beat Liverpool 3-0 Up the Blues!
